[Background]
Bel's Background

[Personality] Belphegor would describe himself with one word and call that good: a prince. I'll expand a bit though, no worries. He's a genius, self-absorbed, narcissistic, lazy and loves to cut and kill things. Really one can only expect as such from the self-proclaimed Prince the Ripper.

As royalty it's not surprising that Bel lords his title over others and speaks of it all the time, but in reality he could care less about the country or its people, he just enjoys being a prince. It affords him to be able to do whatever it is he wants. This is why he took on a job though he had no need for one and joined the Varia independent assassination squad, because they were the best (he would associate with nothing less after all) and he could do what he enjoyed most, which was using his knives to cut and kill. And boy does he ever enjoy it.

Bel thinks he's better than everyone else. As such he is right, others are just pawns and toys, and all is meant for his entertainment. He also considers himself above things like rules or laws and there aren't many things that Belphegor respects. Those few things he does, he still regards with a surface light and carefree attitude, as if he only goes along with them because it amuses him. Even if there is respect or comradery there, Bel does not show that in typical manners. Though one could argue by the Prince bowing to the whims of their Boss, that's showing far more respect than most get. Bel has a healthy respect for Xanxus, probably because by running with him he keeps getting to have fun and because otherwise he'd be dead by now (Xanxus has a rather short fuse and a violent manner to say the least). But if one can earn his respect, that doesn't make them completely safe either, as everything is subject to the Prince's whims in the end.

It also probably doesn't help his ego that Bel is considered a genius at what he does by many, being a skilled high-ranked assassin before 16 (how much earlier than that is unclear as he joined the Varia sometime between killing his brother and the Ring Battles). His talents with knives and wires and clever strategies make him very formidable in combat.

Also to note about his superiority complex is that it was likely only worsened when he killed off his brother (who was said to be better than Bel in every way) at the age of 8. Thus an inferiority complex may have twisted to become a superiority one rather easily.

When it comes to a fight, Bel's preservation instincts seem to be circumstantial and subject to his moods. In his ring battle with Gokudera he is more than willing to die to win and nearly ends up doing so while maniacally enjoying his triumph over the other Guardian candidate who chose to give up and live another day at the pleas of his boss. For Bel, in a fight it excites him to be injured and to see his own blood, as this triggers his true talents. It's at that point that self-preservation seems to go out the window. Otherwise, Bel doesn't seem to have a problem with retreating or hiding if that's the best course of action or he has a bigger priority.

Put Bel outside of a fight that he's eager for or something he finds amusing, and you get a rather lazy and laid back prince. Each of the Varia are associated with one of the Seven Sins, and Belphegor's is appropriately enough Sloth. He won't usually go out of his way unless it's something he already wants to do or he thinks it'll benefit his amusement. (Also, apparently he's ranked 2nd in "messiest room" in the Mafia world, and that's saying something.)

Based on those traits shown, I can only assume that to the core, Belphegor is a lazy spoiled brat used to having the world handed to him on a silver platter and if not handed, he's ready to just take it by clever cruelty or force. He's not above fits of temper if riled enough. He'll resort to name-calling and throwing knives at teammates just because they say something to irritate him after all. And at the other end of the spectrum, if excited enough, he's shown maniacal bouts of glee even when it was quite possible he'd die from the situation.

In the end, Belphegor's rather simple and straight forward. He does what he wants simply because he wants to, and of course, because he's a prince.

[Abilities]
Genius combat strategist: Bel's smart. Too smart really and as mentioned above, it makes him cocky and has earned him a reputation as a genius. He's sneaky and develops attacks and strategies that best suit his skills and strengths.
Knife and wire skills: Bel's weapons of choice are throwing knives that he can make appear as if they don't follow the laws of physics (though honestly, what in a shounen manga does?). He does this by having razor-sharp nearly invisible wires strung behind them that he can manipulate. Also, he can imbue the knives with his own Storm-class Dying Will flames, making them even more destructive.
Dying Will flames: Bel's flames are Storm-class, carrying the property of disintegration. They are highly offensive and destructive, even to other flames.
Box animal weapon: Visone Tempesta, aka Mink. This is Bel's box weapon. It's a mink whose fur carries storm flames that can disintegrate much of what they touch unless counter-acted with an equally as strong opposing flame to protect against them. It can also spin its tail to create a flame shield. Box animals in general feed off the flames of their owners to exist outside of their boxes, so it would be something Bel would have out when he felt like it, not constantly. (But then again, if he was bored, it'd be out an awful lot, wouldn't it?) Also, just a note, it's personality takes quite a bit after its owners, being haughty and prone to a small laugh that sounds an awful lot like Bel's, as well as sporting a similar mop of fur on the top of its head.

Further details can be found on the wikia link under abilities, but I think I covered the gist of it all.

[Other important stuff] He likes SUSHI~ (Apparently that is indeed important enough to warrant being called "important stuff")

[Sample post]
[First Person]

- What were you doing before now?

Thinking about how many ways you can skewer a frog-brat, actually. Che. He and that guy showing us dying. How annoying and tasteless. When we finish off those Millefiore rats, the Prince will be sure to slice him up next.

- If you were to describe yourself in one sentence, what would that be?

A perfect genius prince, what else?

- Would you consider yourself a power hungry individual?

The Prince doesn't need more power, he has his own country. I just want to do what's fun and interesting. Which this is not.... But I can think of some ways to make it fu~n, ushishishishi~

- You're asked to take someone out for a date. Do you agree? If so, describe what you would do. If not, tell why.

If they caught my eye maybe. But if they bored me, I'd have to liven things up. The Prince expects a good time if he deigns you with his company. Sushi's a good place to start~ ushishishi.

- Murder. What is your opinion?

Ushishishishishishishi~~~~

- You are a given a mission. Would you complete it effectively or would you goof off and do something else? Expand a little on the response.

I'm given missions all the time. Hnn.... These questions are getting pretty boring you know. But fine. The Prince would of course do both. No reason you can't play on the job, yeah~? I always get the job done well and have time to enjoy myself. What sort of professional do you take me for? There's a reason they call it "Varia quality," you know. Ushishishi.

- You are on the verge of death. You know there is no way to survive and there's no coming back. Who is the last person you think of other than your killer?

[Frowns unsettlingly.] ... I don't like these questions anymore. Why don't I ask you some? Same question~ [Fingers a knife...]

- You discover someone stalking you. Do you call the police or deal with it yourself?

The Prince must have so many admirers. Of course I'd deal with it myself. But I doubt they know what's coming to them. They'd see soon enough though. [Grin widens.]

- There is a cake in the rain. What do you do?

Kill whoever ruined a perfectly good cake. Idiots. Then buy more cake to enjoy~

- Would you consider yourself a well traveled person? If so, what are some of your favorite places? If not, would you want to travel or is there some place you want to go?

Of course I'm well-traveled. The Prince thinks you need to have your head examined. Mmm, Japan is fun. Ushishishi~ Even if there are annoying brats there, at least there are things to do then and good food. Italy is fine when the Prince is not trapped in the house with the noisy one, the stupid one, and the perv... The Boss can be scary, but fun. And the frog is good target practice most of the time. [Sighs.] I miss the chibi...

[Third Person]

Belphegor strolled down the busy streets of Somni with his hands shoved his pockets and shoulders scrunched. He was not sporting his usual toothy grin, but instead his mouth was set into a faint frowning pout. He did not appreciate the Dreamberry sharing that particular dream. Never mind the fact that he'd made good and sure that his brother was gone this time. Or rather Xanxus had.

If only the Boss were there. That brought the hints of a smile back to the blonde's lips. Oh the fun they could have taking this puny little city. He wanted to see him crush the place and burn the Millefiore bastard to a crisp alive. Xanxus' wrath was scary and something to behold. It'd be quite the show.

Bel would do it himself, but wasn't really motivated to do so. That man was all alone and no threat and shacking up with a wimp, it was pathetic really. Besides, if he killed him himself, he'd just come back apparently. Oh the dismay Bel had felt upon finding that out. But then again, it just meant he could do it again and again, right? He'd still had yet to test the theory... Hm, perhaps a to-do for another day.

"Mou, where are you, Boss? Or better yet, Mammon," Bel murmured under his breath, hoping for some companions. Not that he hadn't found a few entertaining enough people here in this dream world, but still, some things couldn't compare. The best would be their fallen baby companion. Ever since he'd discovered that people could come from different points in time, he'd been hoping for just such a thing. But he'd even settle for the too-loud captain or the annoying magician at this point... Levi he could do without though still. He supposed even Lussuria would do.

Now that was sad. Since when did the Prince's standards get so low?! He clucked his tongue at himself aloud, startling a couple of middle aged women as he passed them. This pleased him a bit and he grinned bigger at them, just for the reaction of nervous polite smiles as they edged away. But then the moment passed and Bel moved onward. Well, until more of the Varia arrived in Somarium, he'd have to settle with his new playmates. And with that in mind, it was decided. He nodded to himself, a truer grin tugging at his mouth once more as he spun on heel to head the other direction, knowing just where to go to relieve his boredom and take his mind off the very broken and stabbed phone left beside his bed from that morning.

[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] I've been dying to play Bel somewhere and since I'm already in Som, I figured I may as well take the plunge! Plus, the fact that there are zero-castmates (other than myself almost, no worries he'll have NO interest whatsoever in Shouichi and Shouichi would go out of his way to avoid someone like Bel), won't be a problem I don't think. I think Bel's a character who can easily stand on his own even if he'd love people from his world to harass.
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] Let's go with "Be Nice To Other Players" because come on now. We're all here to have fun together, deshou~? Drama always sucks out the fun for more than just those directly involved, so it's just best to be nice to one another in the first place.
[Where did you hear about Somarium?] Way back from [livejournal.com profile] kaitou_marina, heh.
[Any questions?] Yus, actually. I know in the past some of the Reborn characters have gotten to keep their box weapons, some of which included animals. So will Bel be able to do the same? I mentioned his Mink above in his abilities and hope he can keep it because he really does seem fond of the little thing.
